Christmas 2007
Another Christmas has passed. At 7am Joy and Ben came running in screaming present time! We never really had the early morning wake up calls since we instilled the 7am wake up rule after child number 2 (then 3 & 4) came along. (I’m not very good at nightly feedings and kids running into my room at 5am screaming present time! Enjoying Christmas is a rule for me and it’s very difficult to do on 5hrs of sleep.)
I asked the kids tonight what their favorite part of the day was and they all said it was when we talked about Jesus being the best gift of all. We spent some time before opening presents this morning remembering what the true meaning of Christmas is and how we give gifts as an expression of love to one another. My first thought was they were giving me what they thought I wanted to hear so I pressed in further asking why. Their answers made me cry. Ben said we celebrated Jesus when we celebrated Christmas. Joy agreed and added that we celebrated by giving and loving one another. Michael said that he cried this morning when we talked about Jesus because he couldn’t put into words what Jesus meant to him. That he loves that Jesus is here with us always. John said when he said that Jesus was his best friend it opened up his heart more and that he would never forget this morning. Wow!
We had so many moments today to bring Jesus into Christmas. John’s remote helicopter crashed and broke but rather than cry he and Nanny worked for 2hours and transformed what was left over into a remote control car gizmo. He realized that God was in that time. Michael made a rubber band bowling alley out of some gears and pieces and said that God gave him the idea.
